About the Traditional Service

The 11:00 am Traditional Service offers traditional hymns and a higher degree of formality than our 9:00 am Celebration Service. The congregation is led in singing by the choir and the organ or piano. Other elements of a more traditional worship service are also present, such as reciting the Lord's Prayer or singing the Doxology and the Gloria Patri. The Lord's Supper is distributed by the deacons to worshipers who remain seated in the pews.

If you're new to church, we try to make our traditions easy to understand and find in the worship bulletin. If you grew up in a church that offered a traditional worship service and prefer that sort of setting then the 11:00 am service is probably for you. Either way, we hope you'll come experience it for yourself.

At First Christian Church, we believe in an "open" communion table, which simply means all of God's people are welcome to participate. At both worship services, anyone who wishes to participate in the celebration of the Lord's Supper is encouraged to share in the bread and cup with us.

A freshly updated nursery staffed by caring, qualified adults is available during both worship services.
