The Celebration Service is typically more casual and contemporary in feel than our 11:00 am Traditional Service. The congregation is led in singing by our praise band Witness. The band includes drums, guitars, and keyboard and the occasional mandolin or harmonica. At the 9:00 am service, the people come forward to receive the Lord's Supper from our ministers and elders. If you enjoy worship that is less formal but still takes the worship of God seriously, this service is probably for you.
At First Christian Church we believe in an "open" communion table, which simply means all of God's people are welcome to participate. At both worship services, anyone who wishes to participate in the celebration of the Lord's Supper is encouraged to share in the bread and cup with us.
A freshly updated nursery staffed by caring, qualified adults is available during both services.
The 11:00 am Traditional Service offers traditional hymns and a higher degree of formality than our 9:00 am Celebration Service. The congregation is led in singing by the choir and the organ or piano. Other elements of a more traditional worship service are also present, such as reciting the Lord's Prayer or singing the Doxology and the Gloria Patri. The Lord's Supper is distributed by the deacons to worshipers who remain seated in the pews.
If you're new to church, we try to make our traditions easy to understand and find in the worship bulletin. If you grew up in a church that offered a traditional worship service and prefer that sort of setting then the 11:00 am service is probably for you. Either way, we hope you'll come experience it for yourself.

Children's Church is offered during the 11 AM service every Sunday EXCEPT the first Sunday of the month. Children start with their families in the sanctuary and stay through the Children's Moment. Then, all children ages pre-K-5th grade are invited to move to the Children's wing for age-relevant Bible learning, prayer, crafts, and fun, before returning to their families at Communion time. All our caring teachers are background-checked!
On the first Sunday of each month, children are invited to stay in the sanctuary and worship with us. While we think age-relevant activities are important for young ones, we also think it's important to help them learn about cross-generational worship as the one body of Christ. If your child needs a little activity to help them focus, we have worksheets and coloring sheets available near the entrance to the Sanctuary. Just ask a greeter (they'll be wearing a red name tag) and they'll be happy to assist you.
